    The role of the Group Scout Leader

    The role of the Group Scout Leader is one of the most important roles within the Scout District providing a link between the Scout District and the Scout Group and maintaining cohesion within the Scout Group. Responsibilities include:

    • Ensuring the sections provide a balanced programme in accordance with the principals of the Scout Association.
    • Provide support to all adult leaders within the Scout Group.
    • Recruit new leaders to maintain a full complement of leaders in each group section.
    • To nominate the Group chairperson and maintain a Group executive committee.
    • Ensure the smooth transition of young people from one group section to the next.
    • To build and maintain a good relationship with the immediate community

    Media Development Manager

    In spite of being in existence for one hundred years, Scouting still has a parochial approach when it comes to broadcasting is existence. Here in Potters Bar, Scouting is in the ascendancy and we need a highly motivated person to portray this image to the wider community. The media development manager responsibilities would be: -

    Schools Liason Manager

    This is an important new role to link schools within the District, to individual Scout Groups. The successful candidate will provide a programme that enables close cooperation between primary and secondary schools allowing a Scout presence at school fetes and festivals. In addition, the Schools Liaison Manager will work in partnership with schools enabling Individual Scouts or a District Team to provide specific themes for school assemblies.

    Training Adviser

    A training adviser is responsible for supporting and assessing new Scout Leaders through their training up to the award of Wood Badge, in conjunction with the Local Scout District Training Manager (LTM). This is an important role with the Scout District as it enables new and existing Scout leaders to keep abreast of new issues covering the provision of adventurous training to young people.
